Cantus Obliquus

Cantus Obliquus means “contradictory singing”. The choir was founded in 1986 and has grown into a dynamic choir. We are the oldest mixed gay choir in the Netherlands. Cantus Obliquus is a mixed pink choir with a broad artistic repertoire, in which the love for singing and for each other is central, and today comprises 50 members.

Cantus Obliquus is an unruly choir that in the first years mainly wanted to sing shocking and socially critical texts has changed. Nowadays, classical seriousness alternates with cheerfulness and a bit of melancholy in the repertoire.

Today, Cantus has been under the inspiring leadership of Nancy Meijer and we are constantly working on improvement. The repertoire is diverse and ranges from classical to jazz and pop.
