Laura and The Lesbians began their life in 2017 originally as friends who met as part of the fantastic Manchester Proud Chorus. The four member group is the brainchild of their namesake Laura, who sought to experiment with new arrangements of both contemporary and classic queer pop music for female voices, and give visibility to queer women.
One of the first big events we took part in was Various Voices in Munich in 2018 and ended up performing on a fantastic party boat in the rain, with all the passengers singing along! It has been so fantastic over the years to bring joy and visibility to people and ourselves! People have always been very welcoming of us – especially enjoying our name! It still feels very relevant to be proudly Laura and and The Lesbians.
