Pink Noise is the enthusiastic choir from Antwerp. Pink Noise is a versatile and cosmopolitan choir in terms of its members and repertoire. This features scores from the Renaissance to popular songs. Both classical works, barbershop arrangements and close harmony suit the choir like a glove. Most singers have no musical training but are driven by their enthusiasm and group dynamics. The choir values inclusion and is open to LGBTQ-people and all sympathizers who enjoy singing.
Pink Noise started its activity in 1999 in a dim parish hall in Antwerp’s university district. Under the leadership of founder Arto Van Bauwel, the choir grew and had its first successes. In 2001 it organised an international choir festival with 11 LGBTQ-choirs. From 2005 to 2012, Sabine Uyterhoeve took over as conductor. She arranged for a CD recording in honour of the 10th anniversary. The choir’s home base became the “Roze Huis” at Draakplaats in Antwerp.
From 2012, Arto took over leadership and prepared the choir for the Gala Concert of the World Out Games in Antwerp 2013. In 2014, the choir took part in Various Voices
in Dublin for the first time. In Dublin, a couple was formed with an own member and a chorister from Cologne. They will be on stage together in Bologna. In recent years, performances followed in Groningen, Arnhem, Middelburg and Various Voice Munich. In 2022 period, the choir collaborated on a new mini-musical “salvage Hunters”.
Various Voices is an opportunity to make contacts with other choirs to do fine exchanges in the years to come. On the various stages, we want to show our most diverse side. With a smile and a tear and above all with a lot of love and joy for singing.
