The Johannesburg Queer Chorus is an amateur choir for greater Johannesburg’s LGBTQIA+ community and their friends. The chorus is open to people of all genders and sexual orientations who are looking for a choral community. We are not a choir of professional music singers, but one that strives for excellence in our performance and musical communication. We endeavour to create a friendly and empowering fellowship for our community through the power and journey of song.
The JQC was formed in March 2020… Yes, *that* month of *that* year. We held our first-ever rehearsal on the 10th of March, and barely five days later, South Africa went into its own lockdown. Eight months later, we managed to get back together again, and since that time, we have grown to just over 60 members.
