Soorten & Maten is the gay choir of Twente, a traditionally mainly agricultural and industrial workers region in the east of the Netherlands, near the German border. We meet every Thursday evening above the local gay bar Stonewall in Enschede, to rehearse under the leadership of our professional director Roos. Soorten & Maten translates as ‘Kinds & Sizes’, but maten also means ‘mates’ in Dutch
Our aim is to give homosexuality a positive exposure and to create social cohesion by singing together. We look forward to participating in an international festival. And meeting other LHBTI+ choirs from around Europe and elsewere.
